Asalaam ‘Alaikum:

In my travels, I have found a lot of wonderful sites for educating your children. So, I’ve decided to share some of my favorites with you. Insha’Allah you will enjoy them as much as we did.

Please note: Some of these sites may have other materials or lessons that I do not agree with. I only use these links how they are categorized. Please use discretion when using these links – take what is good and leave what is bad, insha’Allah.

Here are just a few links – I tried my best to categorize them. I will be adding many more when time allows.

  9. Esalaam aleikum Sumayyah – here is a link you might like to check out. The Jewel of Muscat and its online education resources are centred on the reconstruction and new voyages of a 9th century Arabian trading ship that sailed the Maritime Silk Road to China during the Golden Age of Islam. It is currently recreating the journey using traditional Arabian sailing and navigational techniques!

The website’s education section features free lesson plans and fun class activities for history, geography and science/technology aged 6-16. Homeschoolers can download ready-made lesson plans and class activities, all specially developed by educational experts and supported by the governments of Oman and Singapore. The website also has a wealth of video of the construction process, daily logs and photos from the ship as it sails, a real-time GPS route map, interactive games for kids, and a user-generated content section.

    Enjoy!
