Arabic Sign Language

Asalaam 'Alaikum:

While doing "research" for my "Allah Made Hands" project I found some resource materials that I think could be helpful to someone or at least interesting.  I originally decided to teach the children American Sign Language or at least just overview it as part of our project - then I came upon something interesting - a resource for Arabic Sign Language.  In case anyone is interested, this is what I have found.

The Arabic Alphabet in Sign Language (Kuwaiti):

Here is the chart (Kuwaiti):

Arabic Numbers (Kuwaiti):

At the index to the site, they also have sign language for verbs, family, school, time, colors, etc.  If you click on the alphabet letter, you can find words that begin with that letter in sign language as well.  You can find it here:

I also found out in my search that supposedly Adam's World has a segment in their video "Born to Learn" that discusses sign language and shows the representation for Allah, Asalaam 'Alaikum, and Rammadan in sign language (but I don't have the video to verify).

Update: Allah Made Hands

Asalaam ‘Alaikum:

We finally finished our “Allah Made Hands” mini-lessons this week. We didn’t do them every day, just when we had the opportunity in between everything else. The kids really liked it, alhumdulilah. My youngest started chanting today “Allah Made Feet” (I guess she somehow knows what our next project is!)

I decided to show you the impromptu bulletin board we made out of our school-room door for this project (to see a larger image, click on the picture). I think I’m going to keep a journal with all these lesson plans and a photo of each board we put together so we can remember it in years to come.

Asalaam ‘Alaikum,
